Yule

Dec. 17th, 2001 04:39 am
Still up at 4am Sunday night due to usual time-shift over the weekend.

Today, my pagan-identified step-sister Amelia came to a Yule ritual I'd invited her to along with parents (her mom and my dad). Her first-ever event with more pagans than just herself. She was ecstatic. There were lots of kids, mostly even younger than her. My dad was comfortable, really glad to see me, and extra glad to see Amelia so happy. Her mom (practicing catholic) seemed appreciative and reserved.

I'd invited them all shortly after the event was announced, and spent days afterward having not heard back from them muttering "gotta talk to my dad..." -- it felt immensely timely for them to come do this with me. A first for Amelia, of course, and also for my dad, to see another part of my life, and to do something significant with the four of us (something I know he wishes for more of). And for myself, to be hooked into Earthspirit and know them to be wise and competent enough to produce events I know will represent well my attraction to paganism, and hence qualify for bringing-family-to.

Writing somewhat hazily here as I'm finally getting tired...

I started right in helping set up when I got there, and got very clear positive feedback from two different organizers. Nice to observe they're starting to recognize me and appreciate what I do.
