"On the night of November 2nd, Benjamin Franklin was waiting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to view a lunar eclipse. He was disappointed when his opportunity was foiled by a nor'easter that blocked the sky with clouds. Franklin observed that the winds at his location were from the northeast. He assumed that the storm had come from Boston, as the winds were blowing from that direction. Franklin later discovered that his brother in Boston was able to observe the eclipse clearly and that the storm did not arrive at his location until four hours later. It puzzled Franklin that the system moved to the northeast, even though winds at his location were from the northeast.
