Our trip back from Hawaii in September includes an overnight in Las Vegas. Not enough time to have a proper Las Vegas visit (which is fine because we'll probably be vacationed out at that point), but we do need a night in a hotel.

Anyone have a recommendation for us? Criteria would be bus distance from the airport (ie on or reasonably near the strip), interestingness of the hotel, middling-to-inexpensive, and not skeevy. The Luxor is attractive on all variables but cost -- $235/night feels like too much. $100 a night would be tolerable, though a local-knowledge way of getting a big dicount would be attractive too.

Web-searching is of problematic utility for this kind of thing. *Lots* of sites are scrambling over one another to get ones attention for hotel-related searches, especially in Las Vegas.

Have you tried looking on priceline.com?

The only one I’ve stayed at is Circus Circus (with [livejournal.com profile] docorion and [livejournal.com profile] sionnagh, a few years back). It was fun, in an “It’s 4:00pm and I don’t feel like going to the pool; how about we go down to the amusement park before dinner?” sort of way, and the rooms were perfectly nice. I don’t remember how much it cost, though.

My family and I had a fun time at Circus Circus, chosen for its kid-friendliness and not-so-expensive-ness. There are lots of things going on in the hotel and it's on the Strip. It's not as nice as the newer places, but it's cheaper, and a Strip bus ticket is cheap and will get you around to everything.
