I'm enjoying my hand-drumming class a great deal. I'm picking up the rhythms and sounds easily, though making tones and slaps be different when they need to go in quick succession is still tricky.
I noticed two people taping class last night, and realized I should too. I'm not minded to practice in a vacuum, but I could see myself practicing to a tape.
I'm definitely not in this to memorize rhythms -- I want to be able to jam at the fire circle. However learning and practicing rhythms is how I'll get there.
So, since I'm clearly still into this, I just bought a real drum! Not for retail money since I don't have the experience yet to know what I want in a drum, but I got a good deal on ebay from a seller I judged to be reputable. And it looks great! Want to see it?
