-New sweetie [livejournal.com profile] maedbh7! Much cuddles, v. good conversation, yummies, happies.

-Working full-time now at Houghton Mifflin. They had asked me to go full-time several times in the past, this time they just told me it was the way it would be. After I said OK my boss's boss pulled me in to say "Please don't just resign if eventually this isn't working for you, let us know and we'll try to make it work, maybe part-time will be possible again by then."

-Full-time: I don't like it, but I'm not burning out or actually hating it at the moment. The work is usually satisfying, I'm getting more expert at OSX Server which interests me, and I got them to give me an 8% raise outside the review cycle. Big extra money, even just for a few months, is definitely timely after buying a house and spending a Kitchen buck. I will get an on-call week eventually, but not 'til Feb at the soonest and not again for 3-4 months after that. Tolerable, I think.

-Healing work: still seeing massage clients at 6pm on Thursdays and Fridays, and sometimes one or two on Sundays. Enough to keep my hands in. Tacking a session on the end of a work day is actually good for my head.

-Touch/talk therapy: haven't made concrete steps further in the unifying direction, but have been keeping it in my thoughts. Kripalu did not prove to have courses that interested me in that space. Narrower focus more recently: look for a discipline of bodywork that is designed to open up emotion that is stuck in the body.

-House: work on the inside (unpack, set up, deal with contractors, fill gaps, hang art, etc) went on at fever pitch from when we moved in until our housewarming, then tailed off between Thanksgiving and me giving up my Thursdays and Fridays. Huge list of to-do items, hard to see when they'll get done if most of my evening/weekend time is spent socializing or recovering.

-Haven't yet launched any new events in my new event-capable space. I have lots of ideas, little capacity right now. Maybe after holidays. Warmth of companionship in depths of winter.

-Heard Massachusetts progressives speak at a benefit breakfast recently. Learned that Mitt Romney spent over $5Mil campaigning for Republican state legislative candidates. All of them A) had a spending advantage over their opponents, and B) lost! The overall feeling was that progressive causes took a beating nationwide, and Massachusetts was the greatest exception. On a state level we may be in for a good year between that momentum and DiMasi replacing Finneran. Nationwide... the forecast was that Republicans always over-reach themselves when they get too much power.

-A state constitutional convention must be called by 5/11/05 to consider again the constitional amendment passed last year to ban same-sex marriage and create civil unions. This year same-sex marriage supporters picked up two seats, plus the Speakership. However the amendment passed last year with four votes to spare. The US Supreme Court recently shut the door on the only remaining federal challenges to same-sex marriage in MA, so the state amendment process will be the last big battle. An attempted recall of the four SJC judges that brought the bellwether decision may get some floor time as well.

-Am remembering again that music is really good for my mood. Need to get my iPod back into service. Bummed that the Bose SoundDock requires a docking iPod -- I got in too early.

-On Thursdays and Friday mornings I now get up at 8am -- an hour earlier -- to get to work by 9am. It's now 3am. [sigh]
