Age: THEN:21, NOW:31, FUTURE:41.
Employment: THEN: Last semester of undergrad at the U of Chicago. NOW: 3/5 Unix Sysadmin, 1/5 Massage Therapist, 1/5 Psychotherapist. FUTURE: Whatever combination of things feels sustainable and interesting.
Address: THEN: Chicago, Hyde Park. NOW: Boston, Davis Square. FUTURE: Boston, probably at the we-can-afford-a-house perimeter.
Residence: THEN: The Vortex (dorm room that had seen the genesis of my community there). NOW: funky but comfortable 1-br basement apt. FUTURE: 2-br house or condo.
Pets: THEN: cat and dog from childhood growing elderly back in Maine. NOW: Young adult cat (growing weirder every month). FUTURE: Cat or cats, for sure.
Kids: THEN: inconceivable. NOW: None, but feeling fatherly inclinations. FUTURE: depends partly on being in range of Sudbury Valley School.
Partner: THEN: in an LDR with a wacky, insightful, very intelligent woman I met on alt.angst and hadn't seen in person yet -- she who came up to live in Hyde Park and became the "competently abusive girlfriend" of my ensuing year. NOW: Living with and loving my favorite person ever, comfortably life-committed. FUTURE: More of that, and another partner (secondary? third lover in the family?).
Education: THEN: 95% of a BA in Philosophy. NOW: That, and a Diploma in Counselling from the U of Strathclyde, and a 2-year training in Massage Therapy from the MTI. Busy me! FUTURE: Implementation is higher priority than more school.
Religion: THEN: None, with spiritual leanings. NOW: Deeply moved by unexpected things, attending Pagan retreats. FUTURE: Maybe I'll find out from my kids?
Games: THEN: Insane card games with normal decks (Mao, Squeal). NOW: German board and card games, and Squeal has returned. FUTURE: Something... I can't imagine not wanting to play games some of the time.

Date: 2003-04-17 09:48 am (UTC)1993 USENET. Ahh, those were the days.
Also, Andrew (my officemate) was busy introducing me to various wargames, notably including Titan and Britannia. This was before the German invasion.
It seems such a long time ago.
I don't even want to speculate about ten years from now.
the Vortex
Of course, it sounds like we both definitely prefer the NOW.
