Comcast Digital Phone?
Dec. 12th, 2003 06:21 pmSo it looks pretty clear that we could save around $15 per month on our local phone bill by switching to Comcast Digital Phone for our local service. The cost is about the same as Verizon, the voicemail service is better, we'd get a $5 discount for using them for our internet, and our internet would get a $10 discount for using them for phone. (I specifically confirmed we'd get both discounts.)
So -- has anyone had any positive or negative experience with CDP? Any voice dropouts, failed calls incoming or outgoing, or billing irregularities? Thanks!

I had opted for the absolute lowest possible level of service, which was supposed to cost $x/month including all taxes and fees. I never recieved the first bill. When I got the second bill, including a charge for a late payment, it was for nearly $2x/month because they had screwed up a few things on the billing, *and* because the $x figure they quoted me was *NOT* including taxes and fees. I did manage to get that all sorted out in person at the local Comcast office, but this problem recurred a few more times before I decided that I really did not need a landline. I did recieve both discounts without having to chase them down about it.
From what I have been told, my billing problems were likely caused at least in part by the AT&T/Comcast switchover, as my service was ordered from AT&T but installed by Comcast. If that is correct, I would not expect you to run into similar troubles.
