Left coast report
May. 3rd, 2005 01:46 amAm in San Jose. Palm trees. More public transit vehicles on the streets than taxis. Making a conscious effort not to jaywalk.
Struck by how European a city Boston is, with its squares and squiggles and cowpaths-turned-major-arteries, compared to gridy cities built *during* the age of cars, when space felt plentiful and it was more comfortable to spread out and use it systematically.
Staying in posh (for me) hotel on Houghton's dime. Feeling rewarded by fate for last week. Looking forward to seeing the Apple campus, learning mac stuff, and absorbing a bit of California.
Evening goal: net-research therapy career stuff.
