I just noticed that there are 270,000 users with journals on this site from the United States. That's around a thousandth of the US population. Holy shit! This is not just eyeball-users, this is people Writing Stuff.

Ask any media outlet -- that's a massively huge fraction. I feel like I have some catching up to do. Not with journaling, that is, but with trend-comprehension.

Hee. It's true -- my primary understanding of "boggle" is as an exclamation of bewilderment.

When I discovered lj recently, I had a sudden vision of everyone I know being surrounded by a cloud of narrative, public and ever-updated...
